British Airways has geared up for the summer holiday season by increasing capacity on its Heathrow to Barbados route with the introduction of the Boeing 787-10 ‘dreamliner’

The inaugural British Airways 787-10 flight to Barbados departed from London Heathrow to Grantley Adams International Airport, Barbados, on Sunday 31 March, 2024.

British Airways operating the larger aircraft to Barbados during the summer season also coincides with 70th anniversary of the first British Airways flight to Barbados,

The four-class aircraft features an eight seat First class cabin, the airline’s newest business class seat the Club Suite, in a 48-seat forward-facing cabin, while the World Traveller Plus (premium economy) cabin will offer 35 seats and the World Traveller (economy) cabin, 165.

Cheryl Carter, Director, UK Barbados Tourism Marketing said: “We are truly honoured that British Airways has chosen to deploy its prestigious Dreamliner 787-10 aircraft to Barbados. This shows BA’s confidence in the robust passenger demand for travel between the UK and Barbados. We eagerly anticipate welcoming passengers to our beautiful island paradise, and are delighted with the enduring partnership we share with BA.”

Neil Chernoff, British Airways Chief Planning and Strategy Officer, said: “As British Airways celebrates its 70th year of connecting London and Barbados, we are thrilled to be increasing capacity on the route with a larger aircraft and the launch of a new double daily service from Heathrow. This is a testament to the popularity of the route from a leisure and business perspective, and its importance as a link for visiting friends and relatives. Our commitment to this special destination remains as strong as ever, and we are proud to offer unparalleled connectivity and convenience for our customers.”

The state-of-the-art, 787-10 Dreamliner aircraft has a carbon fibre fuselage which allows the pressure to be maintained at a lower level in the cabin. The internal cabin altitude is the equivalent of 6,000ft, offering a better level of humidity, and reducing the drying effect of the cabin air, so customers arrive feeling more refreshed. In addition, the aircraft is 20% more fuel efficient than similar-sized commercial jets it aims to replace.
