Business travellers staying at the Crowne Plaza, Heathrow, are being offered a new service to help them wind down at night.
The hotel is offering clients a chance to schedule a call from staff at 7pm local time reminding them to turn their laptops off.
The hotel said that the initiative comes in response to research which revealed many business travellers struggle to stop working and wind down before going to bed. Almost two-thirds of those asked said they believed 7pm was the ideal time to stop working.
Sleep expert and psychologist Dr Chris Idzikowski said: “While technology is sometimes hard to live without, it can become our worst enemy when it comes to sleep.
“Checking emails just before bed halts the production of sleep-enhancing melatonin and has the same effect as drinking a double espresso.”
Brits were shown to be some of the worst when it came to turning off their technology with 27 per cent stating they took it to bed with them.
